Tell us a bit about how you like to play WoWs

Hi guys,

I would like to share with everyone how I most like to play this game and it would be great for all of our members to chime in, reason being, that way we can all div up a little better if we have that knowledge. So here is the kind of information about our game experience we should probably be forthcoming about:

Danaussie Tier IX - 473 Battles - 92% Victory Rating

Game Preference - Predominantly "Co-op Battles" and would account for about 95% of my games played, 4% Random Battles, 1% Ranked Battles. I will happily play in any type of battle with members of Taskforce44, but have a good understanding that I am simply not very experienced and (at this stage) am more a hindrance than a help. My preference is most definitely PvE battles and find them the most enjoyable to play especially with other Taskforce44 members that like to also play this style.

Ship Preference - Currently I have ships to Tier VII, all USN Cruisers to that tier as a matter of fact, I would consider myself a Heavy Cruiser Captain predominantly, I know what my role is and I perform that function the best, giving close fire support and Anti-Air cover to our Battleships. I have played (at this point) only 25 games using Battleships, I find them too slow in all respects and (at the moment) I simply cant get my head around them, frankly I have also witnessed that Cruisers do 75% of most of the work during battles, however, having said that I have seen some amazing BB Captains out there and have the utmost respect for the ones that use their Battleships the way they should. Destroyers guys I have played 0% games with them and I simply am NOT a Destroyer Captain in any way shape or form, I cant come to terms with their speed or the launching of torpedoes is NOT something I do well (at this stage). Give me a decent Heavy Cruiser, with decent armour, fast rate of fire and I promise that in not too much time you wont find a better escort. Right now USS Cleveland, USS Atlanta & USS St Louis are my absolute favourite ships. I will be in my comfort zone once I have USS Baltimore & USS Des Moines.

Of course the shape of all this will most definitely change once the Royal Navy arrives and will more than likely be researching and trying to play ALL Battleships and maybe even destroyers as well. My dream boat will be a County/Kent Class Heavy Cruiser, or Town/Southampton Class. Very excited about the introduction of a Royal Navy tech tree at some stage in the future, but until that happens it will have to be USS Baltimore or USS Des Moines.

Mate, are you sure we were not separated at berth(pun intended).

Aside from playing more PVP, you have pretty much summed up my exact play style, and I am also eagerly awaiting the RN line. Disappointing that they have left it till last.
If I have a major flaw, its the frequent attacks of "tunnel vision", which see me charge ahead, expecting everyone to be following....only to find myself alone....and surrounded by the enemy.(I am getting treatment for this....so its getting better...lol)

If it would not be too out of order to say, I have enjoyed the games I have played particularly with yourself, Lance, Medo and CINCPAC the best so far, Lance and I have been playing Atlanta's together for the past 2 days and before that I had hardly given the Atlanta the time of day.

And guys I will also add to this discussion that I'm sure it will very much depend on the players within the group to discover which guys they most prefer to team up with. So far their has not been a single member of Taskforce44 that I have not enjoyed playing with, but the purpose of this thread is to get a better idea of what play styles our members prefer, and that will just make it easier for us to team up with the members within the group to play the kind of games that we most enjoy playing.

I'm sure PvP will become a lot more enjoyable for me once I actually get past soiling myself before every encounter....lol

Myself, I play a mix of both pvp and pve depending on my mood. If pvp is giving me a rough time them pve is a good break. haven't played much random battles.

As for ship preference, I'm actually playing all the classes to varying degrees, with best results currently with battleships, although I can do well with cruisers like the omaha as well. But I do ok with the others as well. I have a range of ships from T2-T6 at the moment, I keep playing the lower tier ships as they're still quite fun, and are great credit earners.

Sometimes I have really derpy games, but usually manage to do a decent amount of damage. It seems the destroyers are the easiest to derp in, eventually I will learn.

I can certainly see that after some time PvE would maybe be a little mind numbing by some of our more veteran players. Having said that I still find some scenarios rather challenging and I can still find myself in peril sometimes. But generally speaking it is a more relaxing game IMHO.

I play mostly PVP mostly though I am open to a few PVE. I have over 2200 PVP and less than 50 PVE and about 100 ranked. I play PVE if I feel like i need a bit of training.

I have my best results in Battleships and CVs. Cruisers are average and destroyers are below average. Destroyers are fun but high risk I think that's cause i don't pop smoke enough but I find it not very useful. my favourite classes to play are Wyoming, Kongo, Omaha, Albany and Bogue.

I have ships from T2 to T6 and am close to getting the Pensacola at the time of writing.
The premiums i have are Albany, Auroroa, Mikassa, Murmansk, and Ichizuchi.

I will also play anything from T2 to T6. I find that is it necessary to keeep playing lower tiers just so that the credits keep up with the XP. However I find the lower tiers fun and sometimes the teamplay is much better at lower tiers than T5-6.

My playstyle is is well I don't know a bit too agressive but i genrally don't turn tail from a fight. I consider it a good game if I sink at least one ship before i am sunk lol. survival isn't high on my priorities but i think that will have to change at higher tiers.

Hi Guys I have been playing WoWs since CBT, I have played 913 pvp battles since OBT. I like to play every type of ship. I have tier 5 DD for all nations available and tier 6 BB and CL for Jap and US. Just got to tier 5 for German cruisers. I don't play carries that much though as i am not the best at them so only tier 4 for those. I made it to tier 8 in CBT for all ships types except carries.

I play mostly pvp battles. My play style, well hard for me to say as it will depend on what ship type i choose to use but i guess i could say that i am probably more aggressive than passive and probably do better playing battleships and cruisers.

Btw guys sorry for not talking much in game chat over the last few days, I got side tracked grinding the new RU DDs and German cruisers up to the same tier as all my other ships. I'll try to be a bit more active on the chat channel from now on.

I like to play Random battles and have stuck with IJN cruisers and destroyers. Anything that moves fast and has a high ROF. I love my Kuma and anything that is quick and deals damage.

In the interests of the game I am playing only IJN so as to get the best of those lines and focusing on just two types of ships. I suppose you can say Im an IJN destroyer specialist as I get plenty kills in those but suck at the bigger and slower IJN cruisers (Myoko).

I'm a team player but in a DD you have to give me a long leash. LOL

That's understandable Klanx, almost expected actually for the DD player. You will sometimes even see me duruing chat saying " Happy Hunting" to those on the team in DDs.

After time I think we always expect the different types of ships to function as they are supposed to. In fact its when they do not when things generally go horribly wrong for the team.

Too often I see DDs hanging back with the Cruisers and Battleships and wonder what they are doing there, or all cruisers abandoning the Battleships going out on "Lone Ranger" missions. In all truth I have done exactly that on a few occasions myself.

Keep chatting on this guys, because its good to know what each guy most prefers to play and what they believe they are best at.

Hi all I like to play everything Expcept CVs, In Tier 6-7 BBs I like to play US BBs in a CQB style if there are not many DDs left in game, I find Tier 6 New Mexico the best at CQB cuase enemy are usually inexperianced. It out classes IJN BBs under 10km. Tier 8-10 A little bit more carefull as players are generally skilled and CAs can burn you down and at high tiers.

Tier 5-7 Tiers I play US cruisers in a wiggle style try to get under 10km generally spread damage around trying for confederate flags. Also as a AA platorm as my cruisers are fully AA upgraded.

DDs. I play USN and Russian and concerate mainly on finding IJN DDs once gone I like getting big scores going from cap to cap and taking torp shots along they way.

Ships I have all US BBs Tier 5-10, All US CA Tier 5-9, US Tier 9 DD, Tier 8 German CA, Full upgrades, + Admiral Captains.

IJN BB tier 5, IJN CA tier 7, IJN DD tier 5

I generally play tier 5-7 as its hard to find high tier games at my time slot.

Im first of all glad to meet you, and glad you found the time to post at our HQ. Welcome aboard! Its always great to have more Kiwis join our ranks.

By the looks you are a very experienced skipper in Battleships, Cruisers and Destroyers, I think you will be very much in your element amongst other Taskforce44 members.

I think the great thing about our club is that we have a vast group of guys at all levels of experience and play in every style imaginable, from aggressive to defensive tactical styles. I very much look forward to meeting you on our chat channel and perhaps playing a few div games with you.
