Comparing Ships

Post by Taipan17 on Sun Jan 17, 2016 10:20 pm

Hi,
I have attached (hopefully) a simple excel spreadsheet which allows a comparison between any two cruisers in the USN tree. Try it please. Any feedback welcome.
Cheers

USN Cruiser line comparisons

Post by Taipan17 on Thu Jan 28, 2016 10:07 pm

Thanks AussieDan, said excel file is now attached. As per the previous post, it provides a comparison between cruisers in the USN tech tree. Any and all feedback is appreciated. The spreadsheet is easily to expand to include other ship types and other country tech trees. I have an addition which provides upgrade cost in terms of XP and credits.

This is a very basic version to test the waters. I have been expanding it to include other country's cruiser trees, in addition to the costs calculator mentioned above

Ok problem is fixed now Taipan, the problem was that even though I had toggled the function on for members I had not allowed any space for these attachments. I have maxed this to our limit of 19,000 MB and the function appears to be working as I uploaded a PDF in our Admin Office. So please try again and you should now be able to see the Excel File.

Tip: Make sure you click on "Submit Query" next to your Browse button when uploading your File...then wait. After the file is uploaded then hit Post and the file should appear.  The Submit Query function is automatic to make sure that your file complies to the parameters allowable by our forum.

Try again Taipan and we'll see if it works.

Cheers ZeemanMopping

Hi Taipan,

I took a look at this last night (glad we finally worked out our Attachments issues) I really like the idea. We had a similar thing for Axis & Allies - War at Sea cards, to see comparative differences at a glance gives players a better understanding of the various units.

Strengths and weaknesses between the vessels I would be interested in particular between the various nations. I guess for my part between KM & IJN ships since I only play with USN and RN units. Some IJN units (Cruisers in particular) demonstrate a clear advantage in fire power and survivability to USN units of the same tier. It would be interesting to see exactly what those differences are at a glance.

In history, Naval officers were made quite aware of (known) enemy units (strengths and weaknesses) and could recognize them by silhouette, knowing what you are up against in advance certainly helps in combatting your enemy. I think over time we are all learning the various ships by engaging with them regularly, for example as a St Louis skipper the units I probably fear the most are NOT battleships but Phoenix and Karlsrhue both out range me and have faster reload speed, it helps to know these units before choosing whether or not to engage them.

Great resource Taipan, great job sar. ZeemanSalute
